Emeryville City Council heard the first reading and voted in favor of several measures intended to protect public health from tobacco use. The Council passed a tobacco retail licensing program that will help hold retailers accountable for following tobacco laws.

The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) supports legislation to end the sale of menthol cigarettes and all other flavored tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, flavored cigars, hookah and smokeless tobacco.

Starting August 1, all West Hills Community College District sites and campuses across the Central Valley will prohibit the use of any tobacco products, including e-cigarettes. The Board of Trustees approved the smoke- and tobacco-free policy on March 12.
