Help us make East Baton Rouge Smoke-Free

In 2016, the Baton Rouge Metro Council had the opportunity to allow ALL employees, including bar and casino employees, to breathe smoke-free air while at work. Unfortunately, that ordinance failed by just one vote. However, due in large part to voices like yours, we have another chance!

June 29, 2017

On June 28th, the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Council members had the opportunity to provide smoke-free air for all employees. Eight of the twelve council members chose to defer the vote on the smoke-free ordinance until August 9th, with two others choosing not to vote. Seven members of the council introduced the ordinance to expand upon the state's smoke-free law to include bars and casinos.

Louisiana saw two extraordinary sessions to accompany it's 2017 Regular Session. Volunteers from across the state came together for ACS CAN Louisiana's Day at the Capitol event to ensure that cancer would be made a state priority.

The Baton Rouge Metro Council has introduced a comprehensive smoke-free ordinance that will make all businesses, including bars and casinos, smoke-free. The vote for the comprehensive smoke-free ordinance will take place on June 28th located at 222 St. Louis St. at the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court Building .
