COLUMBUS, OHIO – Gov. Mike DeWine received the National Distinguished Advocacy Award today, the most prestigious award presented by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), in recognition of his significant contributions to advance Ohio’s tobacco control policy.
“ACS CAN honored Gov. DeWine’s commitment to preventing laws in Ohio that would have limited local governments efforts to reduce tobacco use and proposing to end the sale of flavored tobacco products to stop Big Tobacco’s deliberate marketing to Ohio’s youth,” said Lisa Lacasse, president of ACS CAN. “His long-standing history of supporting tobacco control legislation demonstrates his commitment to end cancer as we know it for everyone. ACS CAN looks forward to continued partnership on behalf of all who live, work and visit Ohio.”
