Crave a Cure is set for December 5, at Northern Lights Atrium
BISMARCK, N.D. - The third annual Crave a Cure event, set for December 5, 2019, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Heritage Center Northern Lights Atrium, celebrates the difference Bismarck-Mandan residents are making in the fight against cancer.
This festive event, benefiting the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), promises a relaxing, fun evening filled with live music, a dazzling silent auction, and the featured appetizer and dessert tasting contest.
Local chefs will offer samples of the best appetizers and desserts in Bismarck-Mandan.
Crave a Cure competitors already participating include Applebees, By the Batch Bakery and Eatery, the Craftcade, Copper Dog Waffles and Coffee, Dan’s Supermarket Bakery, Darrell’s Brew-n-Que, Stonehome Brewery, Sweet Treats Cupcake Bar and Bakery, the Toasted Frog
The appetizer and dessert tasting will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.. Local celebrities will judge appetizers and desserts, and event guests will vote on their favorites for the people’s choice award.
The event features a stunning silent auction providing a fun way to get a head start on holiday shopping for both men and women. The silent auction begins at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 8:00 p.m..
“This year the silent auction will once again include a variety of designer purses donated by business and volunteers including designers like Kate Spade, Tori Burch, Michael Kors, Henri Bendel, along with items like UND Hockey Tickets, NDSU merchandise and more” says Kim Kuhlmann, Grassroots Manager with ACS CAN in North Dakota. “We are thankful to the community businesses and cancer volunteers who find unique items to contribute to the silent auction,”

Crave a Cure brings together the community to celebrate those who have survived cancer, encourages people undergoing treatment and raise awareness about how to reduce the burden of cancer. The American Cancer Society estimates more than 3,940 North Dakotans will be diagnosed with cancer and 1,280 cancer-related deaths will occur in 2019. Estimates also indicate 1.7 million Americans will hear the words “you have cancer” this year.
Proceeds from the event will help ACS CAN advance legislation at the local, state and federal levels that will reduce cancer rates and better the lives of those who have been diagnosed with cancer. ACS CAN is a nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy affiliate of the American Cancer Society that supports evidence-based policy and legislative solutions designed to eliminate cancer as a major health problem.
