The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), the advocacy affiliate of the American Cancer Society, is working every day to make cancer issues a national priority. At ACS CAN, we amplify the voices of cancer patients and their families in the halls of government. Alongside our volunteer leaders, we advocate in support of policy and legislative solutions at all levels of government designed to reduce the incidence of cancer in our world.

ACS CAN will host our annual Washington Research Breakfast, our premiere fundraising event in Washington state which brings together more than three hundred leaders from the business, education, government and research communities.

This year’s event will be held on Friday, September 22nd at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center, and will feature the complementary elements of cancer research and public policy in defeating cancer.

Keynote Speaker Governor Jay Inslee

Governor Jay Inslee is a fifth generation Washingtonian and grew up in the Puget Sound area. Jay first got into public service to fight for a new public high school in Selah in 1985. He then went on to represent the 14th legislative district in the state House of Representatives and in 1992 was elected to represent the 4th Congressional District in Eastern Washington. Jay later moved back to the Puget Sound area and was elected to Congress in 1998 where he served until 2012. He now serves as Washington's 23rd governor.

As Governor, Jay is working hard to build a stronger economy and a better future for every Washington family – and making real progress. Jay has also been a consistent supporter of ACS CAN and understands the need to make the fight against cancer a top priority in Washington state.
