The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) announces two new members –– alongside newly-elected leadership officers to the Board of Directors, with terms that began on January 1, 2024. The Board provides leadership and guidance for ACS CAN, the advocacy affiliate of the American Cancer Society, which supports evidence-based policy and legislative solutions designed to end cancer as we know it, for everyone.

Cancer Advocates Urge Court to Protect Patients from Surprise Billing

Today, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit will hear oral arguments in the case of Haller v. Health and Human Services (HHS) and decide whether or not to uphold the U.S. District Court’s ruling preserving the No Surprises Act (NSA), legislation that prohibits patients from receiving surprise bills for unexpected out-of-network costs.

Lives on the Line as White House Continues to Delay Finalizing Rules on Menthol in Cigarettes and Flavors in Cigars

Nearly two years after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released its proposed rules to eliminate menthol in cigarettes and all flavors in cigars, the administration/White House announced today it will further delay release of final rules. New Report: 2.8 Million Youth Report Current Use of Tobacco Products

New data from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Youth Tobacco Survey (NYTS) found that more than 6.21 million youth reported ever using tobacco products and 2.8 million report current use (past 30 days) of any tobacco product in 2023.
