Georgia 2016 legislative Priorities

Tobacco Control

  • Increase the cigarette tax on each pack by at least $1; taxes on other tobacco products (OTP) should be increased to the equivalent of the cigarette tax.

  • Support local smoke-free efforts to prohibit smoking in all work places

Access to Care

  • Increase funding for the state BCCEDP (Breast and Cervical Program, Cancer State Aid) to provide access to life-saving screenings for thousands of uninsured and underinsured women.

  • Increase funding for the Georgia Tobacco Use Prevention Program (GTUPP)

Quality of Life

  • Pass ACS CAN model Palliative Care legislation to ensure that patients suffering from cancer and other diseases preserve their quality of life during treatment.
