Raise The Sale Age of Tobacco to 21 in WA!

Tobacco 21 Washington seeks to raise the legal sale age for tobacco and vaping products from 18 to 21 years of age.

  • Smoking remains the leading cause of preventable death in the United States.
  • Nearly 95% of smokers start before the age of 21.
  • Each year, 17,800 children in Washington try smoking for the first time.
  • According to the Institute of Medicine, raising the national age of sale of tobacco products to 21 could help reduce the prevalence of smoking by 12%, saving lives and dollars.
  • Addicting Washington’s youth to Tobacco and Vaping Products is costing WA state $2.8 Billion in healthcare costs every year!
