ACS CAN Cancer Research Symposium: The Impact of Cancer Research in Kansas City

Tuesday, August 28, 2018 - 5:30pm to 7:30pm
American Century Investments
4400 Main Street
Kansas City, MO 64111

This year, more than 35,000 Missourians and more than 15,000 Kansans will hear the words, "you have cancer."  Despite many advances, cancer continues to be a leading cause of death in Missouri and Kansas.

The ACS CAN Cancer Research Symposium will focus on research that is revolutionizing cancer care, with a panel of experts discussing their work in cancer research. Caroline Sweeney of KCTV 5 will serve as emcee with a distinguished panel including:

  • Dr. Scott Hawley, Ph.D. – Investigator and American Cancer Society Research Professor; Dean, The Graduate School of the Stowers Institute
  • Dr. Roy A. Jensen, MD – Director, The University of Kansas Cancer Center
  • Dr. Danny R. Welch, Ph.D. – Professor of Cancer Biology, University of Kansas Medical Center
  • Charles Saxe, Ph.D. - SR Scientific Director, Cancer Cell Biology and Metastasis, American Cancer Society

There is a tremendous need for increases in cancer research funding.  Providing researchers with the resources needed to capitalize on the scientific opportunities of today is of the utmost importance.

ACS CAN will use this event to capture the latest and best thinking about the impact of research funding - particularly on people living with cancer.
