About the Structure

After the success of Celebration on the Hill 2006, advocacy staff used the momentum to create an enhanced leadership structure for ACS CAN.

Click on one of the three tiers to the left to view its description in this space.
The SLAs
The top of the structure features a State Lead Ambassador (SLA). The SLA serves as the top-ranking advocacy volunteer in his/her home state and works closely with a staff partner to:

  • fundraise for ACS CAN
  • recruit and train the volunteer teams below the SLA, and
  • coordinate work between state and federal campaigns.
The ACT! Leads
The next tier features the Ambassador Constituent Team (ACT!) Leads — one per each Congressional District in the state. Each ACT! Lead acts as the "captain" of the 3rd tier, which consists of four CAN Chairs.
The CAN Chairs
The four CAN Chair roles are filled by ambassadors who take on specific responsibilities: Act!on (mobilizing volunteers for events/campaigns), Relay (incorporating Advocacy into Relay), Media Advocacy, and CAN Fundraising.
