Working closely with staff partners, volunteers organize an Ambassador Constituent Team (ACT!) in each Congressional District to coordinate advocacy opportunities. Each ACT! is managed by an ACT! Lead, who in turn recruits Team Chairs from the district to oversee the following advocacy areas: media. fund-raising, working with Relay For Life, and mobilization. Additional ACS CAN members and other active advocates in the district are constantly identified to regularly participate in ACT! initiatives and take leadership roles.
A State Lead Ambassador (SLA) collaborates with state staff to coordinate advocacy activities throughout the state, and works closely with each of the state's ACT! Leads to set goals and implement team initiatives. Each leadership volunteer serves for a two-year renewable term.
Every volunteer leader is supported by ACS CAN and American Cancer Society staff with professional advice and training designed to win cancer-related issues, and make fighting cancer a top priority at the local, state, and national level.
