Event Details
Who: ACS CAN is a unique organization working with partners to energize thousands of advocates committed to making the fight against cancer a higher priority among our elected leaders at all levels of government. ACS CAN is building a volunteer movement in every community in America, empowering ordinary people to wield extraordinary power in this fight. What: Breakfast to recognize breast cancer survivors and honor those who fought against breast cancer and lost their battle, while raising funds to carryout the lifesaving work of ACS CAN. The breakfast will feature Dr. Craig Jordan,Scientific Director and Vice Chairman of the Department of Oncology Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center Georgetown University Medical Center, as the keynote speaker. He will be joined by Dick Cass, President of the Baltimore Ravens. We will also hear from the newly appointed ACS CAN President, Chris Hansen who will discuss the lifesaving work ACS CAN performs in ensuring and increasing federal dollars for cancer research and advocating for policies, laws, and regulations that further the overall mission of both the Society and ACS CAN. Why: The funds raised through this breakfast will provide the lifesaving resources ACS CAN needs to advocate for policies, laws, and regulations that further the overall mission of both the Society and ACS CAN. ACS CAN trains and mobilizes cancer survivors, much like the women we will be honoring, to speak out and urge our national and state lawmakers to increase funding for cancer research, increase funding for cancer screening programs for low-income individuals living in our state, and improve the delivery of healthcare for all cancer patients medically underserved.
