In Your Community

Share Your Experiences

An important part of this special section of the web site is allowing you to share your experiences with other leadership volunteers.  Together, we can learn from each others’ successes and help avoid pitfalls.

Did you have a great fundraising event?  Share the hook you used to get people to attend?

Did you plan a great rally?  What made it so successful?

Did your press event fall flat?  What are some things to avoid doing?

By sharing your experiences, you can help other volunteers improve the activities in their communities. We also encourage you to check back to see what your fellow volunteers submitted.  Working together, we can bolster our ACT! Teams and continue building the movement to make cancer a national priority.

What woman doesn’t want an opportunity to sip wine, dine on delicious hors d’oeuvres and shop and bid on jewelry, purses and accessories for a great cause?

On June 10, 2010 a host committee of six volunteers in Phoenix, Arizona hosted their second annual Purses & Pearls event to raise money for ACS CAN. There were over 70 attendees and local boutiques and businesses from all around Phoenix donated beautiful pieces to fill the auction tables!

This year, the event raised over $6,000 for the lifesaving mission of ACS CAN and everything was donated, from the items up for sale and bid to the event venue, drinks and hors d’oeuvres to the event entertainment.

Purses and Pearls also featured breast cancer survivor, Ruth Chiu who told her personal story and thanked everyone for attending.
