Congress just passed the largest budget increase for cancer research in more than a decade!
This new funding will play a pivotal role in our ability to discover new cures and find new ways to prevent and treat cancer.
This is a historic victory in fighting cancer and it happened because of the tireless efforts of our ACS CAN volunteers sharing their experiences with cancer and spreading the message that we are all just one degree away from cancer.
Due to the the great work of ACS CAN’s volunteers, this year’s #OneDegree campaign launched an unprecedented bipartisan wave of support for increasing funding cancer research. The impacts were felt throughout the halls of Congress and across the nation.
Our volunteers made phone calls. Participated in local events. Attended town hall meetings. Many even came to Washington, DC, for our annual lobby day to meet directly with their Members of Congress.
A huge thank you to Congress for helping save lives with this increase, and an even bigger thank you to our tireless volunteers!
