I just wanted to say I am happy to hear about this. Unfortunately none of this will come in time. My father in law just passed away from Melanoma that re-occurred in his lungs. I am so very sad and angry. I feel my father in law should not have died so quickly. No one wanted to help us. Everybody dragged their feet in getting him treatment. There was so much red tape and so much that didn't happen right away or quickly enough that the cancer spread like wild fire... Needless to say it was too late for him. But I hope it won't be too late for thousands of others out there dealing with the same. I wish I was able to legislate law or do more. Anyway that is our story of how the medical and medical insurance system failed us... and why changes are soooo important.

Bobby my sympathies to your family on the loss of your father in law. Cancer can not be allowed to claim another loved one for any reason.

Bobbie, what's the latest on lifting limitations due to pre-existing conditions? What's the best place to find out where that is in the bill(s)?

The Finance Committee bill does include a provision that prevents insurance companies from denying coverage due to a pre-existing condition.
There is more you can do. Don't just sit around and complain - get out there, call your representatives, initiate petitions, do your part. So much of the problem is people who believe that change needs to happen but aren't willing to put any effort into it.
THANK YOU...I was beginning to think that I was the only one who would voice my distain over people complaining about the situation but indifferent when it comes to the work of getting it done. I email my representatives on a weekly basis, I canvas the streets with the information and unanswered questions. Then go home and listen to my husband complain yet never leave the sofa to lift a finger of help.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but THIS BILL WILL NOT PROVIDE HEALTH CARE COVERAGE FOR EVERYONE.
The bill going through congress has very little to do with health care, and I am saddened to see so many people with the wool pulled over their eyes. The most important result of this bill will be federal governmental control over your life, and their ability to deny you treatment if the feds don't see the value in adding years to your life. With the governemnt paying for all your health care, it will also give them the authority to dictate what you can and cannot eat or activities you can participate in since that will affect the your health. That is certainly not a position I ever want to see an American in.
Were it about covering the uninsured, they could simply purchase coverage for all uninsured citizens much cheaper than the proposed bill.
The American capitalist system is responsible for advancing society (not just in America, but the entire world) from the technology and mindset of the bronze age into the modern world. None of the advances in medicine, chemistry, or other fields of science would have happened were it not for our marketplace and innovative free capitalist system. Removing that machine, and its ability to generate new technology from health care will stagnate the advances in cancer fighting technology.
We must not allow this legislation to stop our progress toward eliminating cancer as a major health concern. That is the mission of ACS, and this legislation does not aid us in accomplishing that. Please read the bill and think about what you are getting should this bill pass.

Thank you Steve for your comment. I completely agree with you. Do we really trust the government to run our health care system?? There is a reason why everyone in the world comes to the USA to seek medical services. We have the best to offer because it is a private system. The US government doesn't decide who can and cannot receive medical services, unlike other countries where the government rations care because they have a national health care system. I do believe there are problems with our health care system, but a government run health care system is NOT the answer.
I understand that millions of people have died from cancer, but do we really think that the governement could "fix" this problem?? I mean Medicaid and Medicare are two health care systems that are in debt and never pay the doctors for their services...are we going to allow our private health care system to turn into Medicare and Medicaid??
