Taking part in ACS CAN's legislative campaigns on the national, state and local level is fun and easy to do. There are activities and issues that we focus on year-round, and you can help to lead our campaigns to victory. This month, we're asking you to help us thank Congress for passing the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and FDA regulation of tobacco, and to remind them of the important work still ahead. Though we have made great progress, we must continue to fight for more funding for federal cancer research and treatment programs. The month of July presents us with many opportunities to reach out to critical Members of Congress through parades, community celebrations and district office walk-ins and encourage them to support our cancer research funding requests. This month, we will remind Congress that we are counting on them to provide the necessary resources for us to defeat cancer. Take action today! July is a great time to use our recent victories and our current cancer research funding campaign as a way to demonstrate what ACS CAN is fighting for in Congress. Organize your friends and neighbors to deliver signed copies of the attached Thank You Card at Congressional district offices to encourage your elected officials to continue their work in the fight against cancer. All you need to do is print it out and sign your name! Then help us distribute the blank cards throughout your social networks, family and friends so they can share their views as well. Grab a PDF of the Thank You card here>>> For help or more information, contact your Eastern Division (New York and New Jersey) Advocacy Team at eaadvocacymail@cancer.org.
