Our Legislative Ambassadors play a crucial role in building relationships with elected officials at the local, state and federal levels to advance our cancer fighting agenda. Legislative Ambassador DESCRIPTION
Legislative Ambassador is a volunteer leadership position that works with advocacy staff to provide grassroots support for local, state or federal legislative campaigns. Legislative Ambassadors play a critical role in helping the American Cancer Society meet its 2015 goals, as well as the goal of becoming the most influential health policy organization in the nation.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Respond to and share Legislative Action Alerts
· Send letters-to-the-editor to local media
· Attend American Cancer Society advocacy events
· Participate in meetings with elected officials
· Become an American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) member
· Recruit other ACS CAN members
OTHER OPTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES (choose one):
· New ambassador recruitment and training
· ACS CAN fundraising
· Relay advocacy
· Media advocacy
TERM & TIME COMMITMENT
Legislative Ambassadors are required to make a two-year commitment to the program. They are also required to be dues paying ACS CAN members.
