HB1475 Smoke Free Workplaces. New Hampshire currently allows smoking in workplaces with segregated smoking rooms and ventilation. We will be working to remove this loophole and ensure that all employees have the right to work in a safe environment. We will support legislation that would create a level playing field and ensure that all employees have the right to breathe clean air. SUPPORT.
LSR2853 CHIPRA Implementation Study Committee. Working with NH Voices for Health, we will be supporting the review of potential implementation of Health Kids options offered to the state with the reauthorization of the Children’s Health Insurance Program. SUPPORT
HB1160 Tanning Bed Youth Access Restrictions. We will support increasing the restrictions for minors to tanning beds, including parental consent and age requirements. SUPPORT
HB1479 BMI Reporting in Schools. The Commission on Childhood Obesity has released a report outlining recommendations to fight childhood obesity in New Hampshire. One recommendation is the periodic cataloging of BMI in children in schools. SUPPORT
LSR2920 Reducing the Cigar and Smokeless Tax. This bill would narrow the cigar tax and change the smokeless tax, both of which will make products more accessible to kids. OPPOSE
HB1636 Prescription Drug Monitoring Program. We will be reviewing the potential benefits of an electronic prescription drug monitoring system to ensure it provides adequate patient protections and is used primarily for public health purposes. MONITOR
HB1531 Cancer Collaboration License Plate. This bill would establish a cancer awareness license plate and provide funds to the Comprehensive Cancer Collaboration, which oversees the New Hampshire Comprehensive Cancer Plan. SUPPORT
HB1597 Banning the Denial of Insurance for Preexisting Conditions. This bill would ensure that cancer patients would not be denied health insurance due to a preexisting condition clause. SUPPORT
HB1622 Repeal of Tobacco Tax Increases. This bill would reduce the price of cigarettes and smokeless tobacco. It would repeal the tax increases passed in 2009. OPPOSE
