Michigan Legislative Ambassadors

Are you a Legislative Ambassador? Are you interested in becoming a Legislative Ambassador?

A Legislative Ambassador is a volunteer position that serves as the ACS volunteer liaison to your State Representative and State Senator. Your role is to help us advance our legislative priorities in each state and serve as the “face” of ACS in your State House and State Senate districts.

 

Main Responsibilities:

·        Build a relationship with your state lawmakers (ex: attend coffee hours or town hall forums they are hosting), meet with your state lawmakers at least twice per year and report back to ACS staff.

·        Respond to American Cancer Society and American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) email action alerts

·        Maintain a current ACS CAN membership

·        Send letters to the editor to local media as requested on state and federal cancer issues and report submissions back to ACS staff.

 

 

The term for this position is two years, beginning when you receive your welcome letter. There are no term limits.
