Cancer Advocates Visit the Hill

Over 500 Advocacy Volunteers from across the nation attended American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) Leadership Summit and Lobby Day in Washington, DC from Sept 21 - 23, 2009.  

All members of congress or their staff representative met with ACSCAN advocacy volunteers who urged their lawmakers to vote yes for Health Care Reform legislation that focuses on prevention, would be affordable, eliminating pre-existing conditions, limiting out of pocket expenses and removing caps. 

The Maryland Advocacy delegation included Georgette B. Gaskin, MD State Lead Ambassador, Dawn Hodge (Congressional District 1- Rep. Kratovil), Arden Muller Herzberger (CD-2- Rep. Ruppersberger), Sugar Stallings (CD-3- Rep. Sarbanes), Jacqueline Beale (CD-4-  Rep. Edwards), Elaine Koogler (CD-5- Rep Hoyer), Tabitha Simms (CD-6- Rep Bartlett), Peggy Kidwell (CD-8- Rep Van Hollen).
