Cancer Wins In The Special Session

The Kentucky legislature concluded its Special Session to pass a budget, and the final budget includes two wins in the fight against cancer:

  • $3.0 million for Medicaid smoking cessation services ($1.5 per year). This is the first time this benefit has been funded since the legislature passed its mandate for Medicaid smoking cessation three years ago
  • $200,000 total for "colon cancer care" in four eastern Kentucky counties ($50K per county): Floyd, Letcher, Martin,  and Pike.
