Protect Iowa's Smokefree Air Act

Defend and Expand Iowa’s comprehensive statewide smoke-free air law

Secondhand smoke is a serious health hazard that causes lung cancer, heart disease and respiratory illness in nonsmokers. Since July 2008, Iowans have been breathing easier while enjoying smoke-free workplaces, bars and restaurants and the related health benefits. Unfortunately, casino employees and patrons continue to be exposed to deadly secondhand smoke on casino floors.

The Society will work to extend the protections in Iowa's smoke-free law to all casino floors. In addition, we will work to advance legislation requiring all K-12 school property to be tobacco-free at all times.
