2012 Delaware State Legislative Priorities

Tobacco Control

·         Advocate for increasing the excise tax on other tobacco products (OTP). 

·         Increase funding for the DE Tobacco Control Program

Appropriations

·         Maintain level funding for Cancer Council recommendations

·         Maintain level funding for the DE BCCED programs  (SFL)

Access to Care

·         Monitor specialty tier regulations

·         Advocate for implementation of a consumer friendly DE Health Insurance     Exchange

·         Maintain adequate and affordable funding for Medicaid treatment services and pharmacy benefits

·         Maintain funding for the DE Cancer Treatment Program

Obesity Reduction/Prevention

·         Educate and advocate for 150 minutes of physical education in schools.

·         Educate and advocate for banning minors under 18 from tanning beds.

·         Monitor initiatives around cancer and the environment

Pain Management

·         Monitor the implementation of the DE Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP)

·         Monitor the Board of Medical Licensure’s use of the pain policy regulations

·         Advocate for balanced pain policies within all relevant agencies in state  government

·         Support the DE Pain Initiative
