Emeryville City Council heard the first reading and voted in favor of several measures intended to protect public health from tobacco use. The Council passed a tobacco retail licensing program that will help hold retailers accountable for following tobacco laws.

ACS CAN volunteers from across California rallied at the Capitol on Wednesday and urged lawmakers to pass legislation that would allow more people to access the state’s breast and cervical cancer screening and treatment programs.

Starting August 1, all West Hills Community College District sites and campuses across the Central Valley will prohibit the use of any tobacco products, including e-cigarettes. The Board of Trustees approved the smoke- and tobacco-free policy on March 12.

California

The Imperial City Council passed a smoke-free ordinance to prohibit outdoor smoking in city-owned public events and recreational areas, such as spectator and concession areas, restrooms, parks, and playgrounds, among others.
