Position: Ambassador Constituent Team Member
Time Commitment: The time commitment varies depending on issue activity at local, state, and federal levels. Term is two years commencing July 1 of even numbered years, with an opportunity to review position responsibilities and time commitment after first year.

Position Summary:
Working closely with ACT! Lead and appropriate staff (see “partners” below) to help the American Cancer Society meet its 2015 goals, impact public policy and continue to help those touched by cancer.

Responsibilities:
Working closely with ACT! Team Lead & staff partners, team members are responsible to:
• Assist in planning logistics for local advocacy actions and events
• Participate in local media activities to support advocacy issues
• Serve as a spokesperson to the media as directed by staff and the ACT! Lead
• Participate in state level legislative activities such as state Lobby Days
• Work with local Relay leadership to ensure that there is a Relay/Advocacy
chair at each Relay event in the Congressional District
• Promote ‘Fight Back’ activities throughout the year with Relay audiences
• Work with Advocacy staff to appropriately mobilize the community on
legislative campaigns
• Assist in recruitment of ACS CAN members

Qualifications/Skills:
• Knowledge and understanding of American Cancer Society Mission
Statement and Advocacy Program
• Experience communicating with the media and ‘staying on message’.
• Willing and capable of communicating appropriately with elected officials,
other ACS volunteers and the community
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Leadership skills
